South Korean man arrested for trying to steal hats

A South Korean court has arrested a man for trying “to steal hats from a hat shop” in the capital Seoul.

The man, identified by the prosecution as Kangol Boon-su, was arrested Wednesday by the Seoul Metropolitan Police’s Criminal Investigation Bureau on charges of violating customs laws.

The man had been in possession of “illegal goods” and “improper” hats, prosecutors said.

A police source told the state-run Korean Central News Agency the man had a small amount of drugs and alcohol in his possession.

He has been remanded in custody until Aug. 28, the source said.
